The tragedy in Japan is raising the question again about the safety of nuclear energy, which in my opinion, is a shame. Because I believe the threat to us is far greater than relying on the Mid-East and going to war over and over again.
This is tough as the tragedy is still unfolding over there, but at the time of this writing, it appears the deaths from water (tsunami) far exceeds the radiation incidents. It's a horrible story for our Japanese allies. But the debate is going to erupt again. America needs energy. Nuclear is affordable and we have mastered it pretty well. What do you think? 67% of France's electricity is from nuclear fission. (and they have no major tectonic activity, which should be a consideration).

What would happen if the US didn't build these plants for power? Do you think any thing will last a life time? Just look at the world as a whole planet. Nothing we do is going be forever. So jmo is go for it....
