This is a case of different perceptions depending on where you stand.
People from the northern U.S. think the south is a synonym for racism. (As if racism doesn't cross the Mason-Dixon line--Ha!) People f...rom down south see their history as something a whole lot more than an issue of race. There's a rich southern history and culture. If you aren't from there, you can't pretend to know.
I don't think we do ourselves any favors to be prejudiced, whether it be in the name of race or in the name of geography and history.
