Is the American Dream still Alive? Does our next Generation have the opportunities that we and our parents had? Have we squandered our Heritage?

I have been watching many of our freedoms disappear. Even now we don't have the same opportunities that my parents had when they were my age. And so many of the "perks" my Dad used to take for granted as part of his employment; pension, 100% company paid health-care are long gone and not coming back. Will we be able to get back to where we were? Not unless people are willing to take responsibility for the direction their lives take and not expect the government to take care of them every step along the way.
