Conservatives will go Glenn Beck paranoid on this one ...
Libs will act all defensive.
A true Libertarian asks: Why does Washington need or want this kind of power? This is pathetic.
Once I was on the air in Cleveland (1996, on my sabbatical from Lansing:) ), and somebody threw a switch and I was live on every station in town for about 2 minutes.
They have been building this "control system" for years (yes, before Obama) to seize control of every radio and tv transmitter in the "event of a national emergency." Duh ... I don't know why that wasn't done during 9/11, which is about as close to a national emergency as I've ever seen (or ever care to).
What do you make of this?
WASHINGTON: The Federal Communications Commission today approved an order to conduct the first national test of the Emergency Alert System. The commission voted unanimously to adopt a Third Report and Order that sets forth rules for the test, to be initiated by a presidential alert from Washington to TV, radio, cable and satellite systems across the country. No president has ever triggered an emergency alert, and the system has never been tested intentionally.

Welcome back to work, or school. In case you missed it, according to WLNS
Rich Michaels - host of the "Michaels in the Morning" show at WMMQ - was fired by Citadel Broadcasting on Wednesday.
Michaels has been on the Lansing airwaves at one station or another for more than 20 years since 1984.
Michaels, who says he's encouraged and supported unemployed callers to his show over the years, now finds himself in the same situation.
"I think everybody's going through this. I'm not special," Michaels said. "I actually wish I could talk to people now in a way because I'm in it. It's 10 days to Christmas and I don't have a job. Something better will happen."
Matt Hanlon, who runs the Citadel stations in Michigan, says the company and Michaels "parted company" because the station made a decision "to move in a different direction."
Michaels' co-host Deb Hart, another long-time radio presence, will remain with the station, Hanlon said.

Day - ?? I Forgot!
Well, I am pretty sure it's Monday the ______. First thing in unemployment land is you start to forget. That and the holidays screw everything up.
Oh yeah. It's Monday. I do have appointments. Seeing some folks.
Word on the street is that XXXXXX will keep Deb Hart on board as they simulcast an out of town show from Grand Rapids. My fear is that once there is some illusion of continuity, she will later be broomed out the door.

Day 2 - Unemployed
Todd sent this over. Even if you are not religious, you cannot ignore the wisdom in this Biblical passage:
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
